Now let’s take a closer look to Renata Owen!

Hi Renata! How do you decribe the style of your own art? What do you feel makes your work unique and truly your own?

My illustration mostly pictures sweet beauty and curvy ornaments, pretty little details, with a touch of colourful, lush, and elegant elements. I like to capture a bitter-sweet feeling in my artwork because I think there is always a good and bad side to everything.

How long have you been doing works in graphic art?

I’ve been working as a freelancer since 2011, and then working fulltime after I graduated from Ciputra University in 2013.

When did you start this unique style?

I actually have no idea when did I start this kind of unique style of art. I just draw what I like to see. I absorb many influences from other artists too. It keeps developing though.

Where do you mostly get your inspiration?

I get inspiration from music and lyrics, also from folklore and fairytale. I love the mystery and the dreamy feeling when I read a fairytale.

Who are your favourite artists?

My favourite artists are James Jean, Victo Ngai, Teagan White, and Takashi Murakami.

What projects are you currently doing?

Doing a book collaboration with an Indonesian writer.

In your opinion, what’s the art scene like in Indonesia right now?

Local artists nowadays are really developing, it seems now there are many opportunities and events helping local arts. Exposure of the internet is also very influential, local artists emerging to be well-known out there, and they can also learn a lot from foreign artists.

Why do you choose to join Printerous Artist Program?

As an artist I really am helped with Printerous Artist Program because I can concentrate solely on creating new works without worrying about production and shipment. Printerous is also known with their print quality and their representative brand.

Last but not least, what makes Printerous special?

Printerous has a prime print quality, with clean finishing, and assured services.  Also Printerous has a really neat website, which is really nice and representative.
